Pastor Terrence J. Melvin

Rev. Terrence J. Melvin is the Pastor and Founder of New Solid Rock Church Ministries, Inc. which he founded with his wife, Rev. Taunya A. Melvin, in November 1996. When New Solid rock was established, there were three members, Rev. Terrence J. Melvin, Rev. Taunya A. Melvin, and their daughter, Theresa. Praise the Lord, the membership has grown to what it is today.

Rev. Melvin is a role model to men of all ages. His message to all that know him is that he truly “ Loves the Lord”. He is truly a Man of God. Rev. Melvin is a husband to his wife, a father to his daughter, a friend to all of his family and friends, and a shepherd to his congregation. He is also a man of great stature. Reverend Melvin, not only spreads the gospel of Christ through his words and songs, but he spreads God’s word through the life that he lives.

Rev. Melvin was saved at a young age and accepted the Lord’s calling to the ministry when he was only 17 years old. He was at the age of 17, ordained a deacon at the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church under the teaching of the Late Dr. Curtis Kyle. Shortly after that, He then became a minister. Later on, he joined and become an associate minister at Triedstone F.B.H. Church under the leadership of the Late Rev. Dr. Amos N. Frazier. It was at Triedstone where he received most of his teaching and later was sent out to pastor.

Before establishing New Solid Rock Church Ministries in Washington, D.C., Reverend Melvin and his wife served as pastors of Zion Hill F.B.H. Church in Norristown, PA, for four years and St. Luke FBH Church in Brooklyn, NY, for one year. After laboring both in Pennsylvania and New York, the Lord lead them to start New Solid Rock Church Ministries, in the nations capital where he is the Senior Pastor and labors in the vineyard with his wife by his side as Co-Pastor. A native Washingtonian, Rev. Melvin received his early education at Jessie LaSalle Elementary School, Bertie Backus Jr. High and McKinley Technical Sr. High School where he studied music. He furthered his education at the University of the District of Columbia where he majored in Business and Accounting . Rev. Melvin has been employed with the Brookings Institution for over twenty-nine (29) years.

Pastor Melvin has also started an Evening Devotional Broadcast on Radio Station WYCB (1340 a.m.) on January 7, 2007 from 10:00 – 10:30 p.m. every Wednesday Night reaching thousands with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Rev. Melvin married his high school sweetheart on April 12, 1980. They are the proud parents of one daughter, Minister Theresa Anita Melvin
